let's start with yesterday, May 3rd: FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! Hopefully, you were able to stop by one of your local comic shops for this glorious event. I was lucky enough to be invited to Empire's Comic Vault's great Free Comic Book Day event. This was the first time I have been to any type of event like is to showcase Shaman's Destiny and it was a blast. I was able to meet some amazingly talented artists from the local Sacramento area. It inspired me to keep working on my craft.
The crowds were great also. I have to really thank the fans that came out to support me. Also thank you to any new fans that were introduced to Shaman's Destiny. This is a process that I'm glad to share with everyone. The fans that came down to FCBD also were treated with the second issue of Shaman's Destiny. Hopefully you were able to enjoy what occurs in issue #2. I am really proud of the second issue and I can't wait for you to read issue #3. Yes, I did just say issue #3. I just finished writing the third issue and I sent it to my editor for review today. Hopefully by the end of the week I will get some feed back. In the mean time I will start to thumbnail the pages in advance to get ahead of the game. No point wasting valuable time.
Speaking of time, time to inform you that our store website is available. When you have the chance visit the Big Tree Comics Store to get the first couple of issues of the book, plus a couple of posters. The store will be available for you to purchase any other books in the future. I am hard at work at developing our official website also. I started developing the website right after FCBD and I hope you enjoy it. The website will be your place to find out about all things Big Tree Comics. It will have news updates and info about our next events and appearances. It will also provide info about your favorite BTC books and creators. Please stay tuned to this blog for more info.
Thank you again for everyone that has supported me through all this. This ride has been amazing and I can't wait to see what's going to occur in the future.

Hopefully you had a good weekend, if not, I hope the next one is better. Things were pretty good for me, this past weekend. Well, good on a professional stand point.
First, my shipment of issue #1 of "Shaman's Destiny" finally arrived! If you would like to purchase one, you can purchase a copy from Empires Comic Vault. I've also started emailing shops in the Sacrament area to start selling the book also. I can also ship one out for you. The book is still $2.99. If you would like me to ship an issue, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Shipping is an additional $6 within the United States.
Secondly, I was invited to have a table for Free Comic Book Day, May 3rd, to promote my book. This will be a great opportunity to get my book out to more hands. I will have copies of issue #1 available and hopefully issue #2. I will also be selling prints of Malik Moore from "Shaman's Destiny" and Joshuan Somewhere from the upcoming book "Joshuan Somewhere". Malik's print will be in color. I am working with someone as we speak to finalize that. Joshuan will only be in black and white though. With everything going on, I don't have time to make 2 colored prints.
Lastly, I think i figured out how to start posting pages from issue #1 here. I will be working on getting the first few pages of the book posted soon. I appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy what's to come.

I am still working to get issue #1 up on this blog spot. I hope to have the cover and first few pages available to view within the next 2 weeks. These last few weeks have been hectic and haven't been able to sit down and upload the images. What I will be posting is the same images that appear in the print copy of my book. No changes, no extras. Just the same great story and semi-ok artwork.
Speaking of print, i recently put in an order in for more copies of issue #1. Once I get them into stores, i will post where you can get them. This whole process can be very draining and demanding. Between my regular 9-5, finding time for my family and this, I need more hours to the day....or at least have super speed like the Flash. Then maybe, I can start getting more done.
Last night, I finished a image for a friend and I'm also working on creating a Dr. Who image for a co-worker. I've never been a big Dr. Who fan. I've seen a few episodes, but it never grabbed me like other series. I don't know if that's why I had such a hard time drawing it. The layout would work and I couldn't get the image of David Tennant correct. It frustrated me like crazy.
Ever have one of those weeks where nothing you do seems to come out the way you want? I've had that feeling for the past few weeks and can't seem to break out of it. I haven't sat down to draw a page from issue #2 of Shaman's Destiny in over a week. I'm hoping I can hope back in to it. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely been drawing, but I think I am intimidated by my own book. I want to produce something that everyone loves and my fears I think, are causing me to not attempt to work on it. I will have to get over that soon.
Well, enough rambling. It's time to get back to work. More to post next week.

About to watch "Teen Titans Go" before I sit down and draw. I originally did not like this show. I was really pissed off and annoyed that they removed "Young Justice" for this show, but after a few episodes its really grown on me. I still wish they would bring back YJ though.

With issue 2, I'm already coming across some of the same issues I had with issue 1: Lack of time and energy (it takes a lot of me to try and write, draw, ink and edit my own comic book, while still working a full time job and taking care of my family), lack of knowledge ( I keep having to remind myself that though I've been reading comic books for 20 years and drawing for 30, I'm still a novice when it comes to the steps) and lack of skills (I still need to grow. My abilities are better than the average bear, but not where I want them to be).
I see so many improvements from what I was producing in issue 1. If you were lucky enough to purchase issue 1 and are nice enough to purchase issue 2, please share your thoughts on things, good or bad. I need criticism to get better. Though I love and appreciate the kind words, I need the negativity to keep grounded and push myself to produce better stories.
With this blog, I hope to update as much as possible. Right now I have a feeling I will be able to update about once every other week, but I will try and update whenever I remember to. I will be sharing my ups and downs, where I am as far as progress wise. When I remember to, I will also post any other projects I am working on.
Please feel free to share this with your friends and family, along with the Shaman's Destiny Facebook page .
